April 6, 2021 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm EDT
Thanks to the hard work of ROAD members and others, Proposal 2 passed with 61% of the votes and ended gerrymandering in Michigan. As a result, the Michigan’s electoral districts are being redrawn and your input is needed. Therefore, ROAD is sponsoring a Bi-Partisan Panel Discussion to update you on the redistricting effort. Thirteen people were randomly selected to draw up the new districts. The panel features three of the 13 commissioners entrusted with this work. Rebecca Szetela – Independent M.C. Rothhorm – Democrat Cynthia Orton – Republican Panel Moderator – Edward Woods III – Michigan Office of Communications Director They will answer questions such as:What are the requirements for a district? What is a community of interest? How will they take those interests into consideration? How does the delay in census data affect their work? Will the new districts be completed by the 2022 elections? How you can get involved? Please send your additional questions to Tracy Dobson here We hope you are excited to help make Michigan’s electoral districts more representative! Onward together!
